Geographical Information System – (II)

The problem of insufficient parking spaces in the Central and
Western (C&W) District raised the concerns of district council
members. This traffic study investigated the parking demand
in C&W District for various types of vehicles including
commercial vehicle and to collate relevant parking demand
and supply data for the analysis and assessment of base
year and future year parking supply and demand. Being the
Project Director he gave directions on formulating parking
demand model based on the land-use data and parking
survey results. Based on geographical distribution of the
parking location, including for the location of illegal parking
activities, to quantify and group into parking zone the study
adopted the GIS for spatial analysis for the parking demand
model. The study need to take account of the implication of
the Electronic Road Pricing impact on walkability and
accessibility to carpark and premise within and beyond the
restricted zone by attitude survey.
